Should I take a child to a funeral service?
This is entirely down to you, or if old enough, the child. Babies and young toddler who may not understand the event is a sad one can be disruptive, especially during a long service.
It is always best, where possible to prepare your child for the day and tell them exactly what to expect. They may not understand why some people may be crying, yet others who could be recalling fun tales of the deceased may be laughing.
There is of course the chance that the family or friends of the bereaved may specifically request that no children be present and this will be noted in our funeral schedule if this is an Alty conducted service.
